Youthtown Receives Equal Pay Award

Another proud moment yesterday as Youthtown was selected as the winner of the Silver Distinguished Award in the YWCA Equal Pay Awards.

One of our strategic goals at Youthtown is to “Attract, Inspire and Develop Exceptional People” and we recognise that the way in which we approach fairness, diversity and inclusion is critical to achieving this goal.

The work we have done to implement best practice in the area of Equal Pay, is part of our wider People and Performance Plan which has seen our employee engagement scores consistently improve year on year from 17% in 2013 to 45% in 2016, including a massive 15% increase this year.

The YWCA Equal Pay Awards have given us the opportunity to capture all of the initiatives, policies and practices we have implemented in the area of equal pay and to demonstrate to ourselves, as well as to the judges, the many ways that we at Youthtown are tackling the gender pay gap which is currently 3.1% (compared to the national average of 12% in favour of men).  To us, building a fair and equitable work culture is just what we do.

“I am so proud of our staff and I am committed to treating each and every staff member fairly and equitably, regardless of their gender.  A huge thank you to our GM People and Performance Jannine Mullany and her team for all their hard work in driving best practice in people and performance across the organisation and their significant work putting together the entry for this award.” – Paula Kearns, CEO
