Bequests
Your legacy can live on…
Youthtown has been caring for young New Zealanders since 1932. By including Youthtown in your will, you can help us ensure we can continue to change young lives for years to come.
What is a bequest?
When creating or updating your will you need to decide how you wish to distribute your assets. While family and dependents generally come first, more and more people are now choosing a charity to receive a certain percentage of the residue of their estate.
The Youthtown Foundation
The Youthtown Foundation has been established to receive and manage bequests. Its prime function is to manage the distribution of funds to Youthtown.
The Youthtown Foundation manages the capital (i.e. the pool of bequests) and pays out interest earned to Youthtown Inc. The Youthtown Foundation never touches this capital which means your bequest remains as interest earning capital. Your bequest will continue to generate funds for Youthtown for decades (even centuries) after your death.
So how do I make a bequest?
There are a number of options available for making a bequest to Youthtown:
- A percentage of the residue of your estate
- Specifying an amount of money or a particular asset such as property, insurance, artwork etc
- A percentage of your estate
